I’m Ian. I make connections.
I build powerful relationships between consumers and marquee brands that spark engagement and fuel advocacy.
My strategic philosophy is grounded in behavioral research where I leverage a data-driven, humanist approach to uncover and exploit attitudes, motivations, and desire. I’ve successfully employed this methodology to drive growth for behemoths and upstarts alike: Nike, AT&T, YETI, and Warner Media among them.
My specialty is building robust brand ecosystems equipped to face a rapidly-changing commerce landscape where consumers are constantly considering and loyalty is fleeting.
Throughout my career I have effectively translated strategy across flagship and fleet retail, paid/owned/shared/earned campaigns, AR & VR experiences, product portfolio development, brand positioning & identity, and e-commerce platforms.
If any of that sounds compelling, let’s grab a beer and chat.

Here are some vibes while you ruminate.
Brands I’ve represented
The individual.
I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, calling both Portland and Seattle home while heavily influenced by the singular identities of each.
Seattle is my cultural center of gravity, imparting upon me a sense of mourning for its former grunge glory and serving as a microcosm of the struggles our culture faces, whether it be the social values disparity between how we treat the wealthy and the vulnerable, the struggle for affordability that affects how and what we consume, and the generational differences that manifest as hope, apathy, and grit (you tell ME who represents which).
I found my professional footing in the bootstrapping maker scene of industrial PDX, where being surrounded by artists, craftsmen, coders, and strategists created an open market of ideas, informed a ‘no such thing as not my job’ mentality, and fueled a love for street food of questionable character.
